Paying Guest (PG) accommodations have long been a home away from home for students and working professionals in bustling cities. They provide convivence and a sense of belonging in addition to roofs over one's head. However, recent adjustment, notably the Goods and Services Tax (GST), have sparked up discussion regarding the rent increase.
Sharing her thoughts on this matter, Simran Mehta, a college student studying literature, said, "For us students, affordability is key. Rent hikes due to GST is a dent in our already tight budgets. Looking for PG and again starting from zero is a huge task especially for students."

Ankit Raj, a computer science student, said, "PG life is about more than just a room. It's about the atmosphere. The dynamics have altered as a result of rent increase , making it more difficult for us concentrate on studies." elaborating on that he said that moving to a new location, making a new friends and readjusting to new atmosphere is not at all simple.
Shreya Patel, a software engineer, said, "To us flexibility is important. Many professionals move cities for work. If rents are hiked, it might impact our decision to choose PGs over other options."
The voices of students and working professionals in PG accommodations paint a picture of shared concerns and a hope for balance. As the impact of GST on rent prices looms, it's clear that both sides hope for transparent communication and a thoughtful approach. For students and professionals alike, PGs are more than just accommodations, they are spaces that shape their journey in a new city, and a balance between affordability and quality is what everyone's looking for.
